China Showcases Rich Literary and Cultural Offerings as Special Guest at Kuala Lumpur International Book Fair

China was the event's special guest, and the 40th Kuala Lumpur International Book Fair began on Saturday in Malaysia's capital city.

China, the fair's "second host," has brought more than 3,000 books to the show, according to cultural analyst Chu Xin. Topics, including China's growth, art, and traditional culture, are all covered in these books.

The Malay version of Xi Jinping: The Governance of China and a selection of the Chinese president's published essays are two of the exhibition's standout books.

An extensive collection of ancient Chinese paintings, which reflects the cultural innovation of China over the centuries, is another feature. Stories on traditional Chinese qualities may be found in the compilation A Hundred Classics of Chinese Traditional Culture.

Chu told the Global Times that the exhibition enables local readers to get closer to moving Chinese stories in light of the shared cultural heritage between China and Malaysia.

For the first time ever, China will be a guest of honor at an ASEAN nation book festival when it attends the Malay expo.

The event is being attended by more than 150 publishers from more than 30 Chinese publishing firms. There are more than 100 different types of books on exhibit that were jointly produced by China and publishing companies in ASEAN nations, "paving the road for further ASEAN-China publishing collaboration," Chu observed.

China's guest of honor ceremony was attended by Zhang Jianchun, a deputy chairman of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee's publicity department, and Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.

A total of 30 cultural activities, including a symposium on China-ASEAN communication, will take place during the expo, which is set to close on June 4.
